Food shop haul

I was pretty happy with this food shop. I got a lot of veg without packaging

What did I buy:

  • olive oil - in a glass bottle so should be easier to recycle than plastic
  • garlic
  • butternut squash
  • peppers
  • onions
  • spring onions
  • sweet potatoes
  • ginger
  • potatoes
  • nutritional yeast - never tried this before but I’ve heard it’s a good thing to use in cooking if you’re trying to be more vegan! apparently it has a cheesy flavour and this one is fortified with vitamin B12 which can be difficult to get if you’re on a vegan diet.
  • vegan soft cheese - the packaging is partly recyclable; I have no idea how to buy any form of cheese without involving some sort of packaging that’s bad for the environment.
  • nakd bars, bakewell tart flavour - these are bars made from raw fruit and they’re vegan. I don’t if the packaging is too good for the environment, but the contents of the bar seems to be!

I never know whether its better to go for unpackaged fruit/veg or organic. Both are better for the environment in different ways but I can’t seem to get both i.e. organic, unpackaged fruit/veg. I really hope supermarkets start offering more zero-waste options soon!
